First, congratulations on the success. But yes, suffering the plight of the unsung hero is not fun. If it means anything to you, I applaud your efforts. I directed and stage-managed in college too, and while I enjoyed being invisible, it's nice to know that your hard work is appreciated. The "average audience" is the curse of entertainment.
As a fan of behind-the-scenes, I'm glad so many DVDs include so much extra material. They let the average audience in on secrets and the labors of people who otherwise get far less attention than the actors. But that doesn't help you right now...
